MapleLotus CBD was founded by Kamal Kalsi, an ER doctor and a soldier. In 2011, he was deployed to Afghanistan where he ran an expeditionary ER that treated thousands of combat casualties. He took care of soldiers with devastating war wounds, and treated their acute pain with morphine and other powerful narcotics. Dr. Kalsi then helplessly watched many of his fellow soldiers become addicted to the pain medications and muscle relaxants that had been prescribed to them. One of his young soldiers who was given a cocktail of antidepressants, pain killers and muscle relaxants said that they made him feel like a “zombie”. Dr. Kalsi witnessed firsthand the heavy price we pay for war. And that’s where our story begins.

Dr. Kalsi saw how hemp-derived CBD helped his fellow soldiers, but was frustrated by the lack of a high potency, clinical-grade product. He spoke with professional athletes and countless veterans that shared their frustrations about using substandard CBD products. After years of research, he decided to create his own CBD products.
